Brian E. Crist is an accredited American Country Music historian and one of the nation’s most respected authorities on the genre’s past, present, and cultural legacy. He is the founder of The Country Historian project, a published author, U.S. Army veteran, and former professional disc jockey with more than forty years of experience in live entertainment. Crist also served as the Founder and President of the Indiana Disc Jockey Association.
For more than four decades, Crist has dedicated his life to documenting, preserving, and interpreting the history of Country Music. His work spans authorship, nonprofit leadership, media production, and public scholarship—each focused on elevating the stories, artists, and traditions that shaped America’s most enduring musical art form.
Crist is a distinguished member of the Country Music Association and the creator of the Country Music History Corporation, a nonprofit organization committed to safeguarding and promoting the historical legacy of Country Music. The organization is currently expanding to include Desperado Country internet radio and The Friday Night Rideout with DJ Desperado, a broadcast format featuring artist interviews, historical commentary, and in‑depth cultural analysis.
He is the author of The UNDISPUTABLE Mount Rushmore of Country Music and maintains CountryHistorian.com, a comprehensive digital archive of Country Music history, artist biographies, and educational resources.
